Im running windows XP and have Norton Security 2002 installed.
I keep getting trojan horse reports from various addresses.

Is This a config problem or do you think these are actual attacks.
Norton says It Is blocking all these attacks sometimes up to 12 a day.

The reason Im asking It, Is That prior to having norton I used to test out my security at Trends housecall and never had a security alert.

Does anyone know whats going on.

Thanks In advance

This is a link to the Norton Anti-Virus Bulletin page. You can read about current threats there. It is not a bad idea to subscribe to their News Bulletin.

I'm not familiar with any particular Trojan threats at the moment. It is likely that someone with your email address in their address book has the virus, so it is attempting to send to you. It sounds like your Anti-Virus program is doing what it is supposed to, preventing the infection.

If you like, you can test your system here:

Use Symantec Security Check to assess the vulnerability of your PC.

The firewall portion of Norton Internet Security is identifying and blocking attacks. A dozen attacks per day is not unusual -- a dozen attacks per second often occurs even on dial-up, and high-speed access usually brings hundreds per day.

Note that the attacks are generally random. An infected computer generates Internet addresses and infects vulnerable systems at those addresses. Once a system is compromised, and connects to the Internet, the trojan reports the address of the infected system to the trojan's owner, and executes commands when they are given.

If you receive an irritating number of alerts from a specific type of trojan, open the Internet Security Options page, click Advanced Options and Firewall, then scroll to and double-click the offending trojan. Under Logging, clear the checkbox beside "Show Security Alert...".
