Must have visited the wrong site because I'm being innundated with pop-up ads! I have had many popupstoppers but none seem to do the job. What the absolute best free one?

Have you tried the Google tool bar? I like it, it makes a little pop stopper noise when it catches them.

google toolbar

It's free and has been advised from Tree, I like it.

Thank you, Soaring and thank you, Tree. I have downloaded the google tool bar and it looks like it will solve several problems for me. Actually I once had this thing, but not knowing what it was, I deleted it. I am glad to have it back again! I even printed out the instructions - 17 pages!

Thanks guys.

The Best Catty is Spywareblaster Cool which stops 99% at source Doesn't have a chance to latch onto your machine to start their "tricks" Big Grin
and its Free! Cool

Screenshot and review here (download from here also)

once this is installed you can throw all your Popupstoppers in the Recycle bin and you can wander about with only a tiny chance of picking up a Popup Ad Generator Smile

Should you want to give it a go ? here are the setup instructions:

The first thing you do is take a "System Snapshot" which acts as a foundation also a reference point to rewind to, should the program run into trouble(never happened yet it is very strong) Cool
Next press the "Check for updates" button to populate the list then press the small button under the list "Select All " which will tick all the boxes on the list in red
Next click the large button called "Protect against Checked items!" This will turn the list to black and should generate a tiny "success" box Smile
Thats all there is to it Catty.
Every month, return and hit the "Update" button, there always seems to be more stuff added Frown
At the time of Posting there are 1195 items on the list! Eek
A minutes work Tops a month ! Cool

Googles toolbar is good as an additional barrier against this plague Mad
work with the tool bar the warning noise is like a machine gun running full pelt ,but add Spywareblaster into the equation you'll get perhaps 1 or 2 clicks per hour.

Hey Soaring, I had the google toolbar yesterday, but today it didn't appear. Checking it out, I discovered that I can only access it through Ie. I don't want it to show up on IE, but on MSN 8 - the butterfly. How can I switch it over? Anybody?

I agree with bedestor about spyware blaster. I get no popups. System snapshot is in big letters once you have spyware blaster on your screen.

Thank you, bedstor, I haven't had but two popups all afternoon. I also did a virus scan and found I had two viruses. My computer had gone completely crackerdog on me, fluttering and running and hopping and refusing to work, going on strike for no reason, etc. Good advice, guys, as usual.
