How can I repair damaged files that have been attacked with the above viruses? I've tried Symantec's page and Grisoft, but all they can do is "disable access" to these two damaged files: C:\WINDOWS\WINLOGON.EXE (can't remove this file and can't be quarantined) and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSCNT.EXE (same). I'm using Windows 98 and OE6. I'm assuming the viruses are still active in these files, can someone help?

Click Start, Run, type Msconfig and press Enter to launch the System Configuration utility. Click Advanced, select Enable Startup Menu, then click OK, OK, and restart the computer.
When the Startup Menu appears, choose Safe Mode. Click OK to dismiss the Safe Mode prompt. You should have no trouble deleting the files manually, but you can start a virus scan and let Norton do it.
When done, open Msconfig and reverse the Startup Menu selection.
