Does anyone know how to password protect an entire folder in word? I know that I've done it before, but have since forgotten!

I know how to password protect a document, but it's the folder I need to know about!

Thanks to all! Wink

Using XP office....not sure about other Word versions:

A folder not sure?

Require a password to open or modify a file
When you create a password, write it down and keep it in a secure place. If you lose the password, you cannot open or gain access to the password-protected document.

Open the file.
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Security.
Do one of the following:
Create a password to open

In the Password to open box, type a password, and then click OK.
In the Reenter password to open box, type the password again, and then click OK

Baz, when I click on tools and options... I have no "security" tab. Unfortunatley, I have word 2000, so they obviously are different. I'm needing this for my place of work.

Sheesh! Somewhere I should be able to figure out how to password protect an entire folder, as opposed to a document. I know it can be done.

Thank you for your responses.

Hi Tree, have checked all over including some Guru Word friends and...WORD cannot password protect folders, that is up to the Operating System or an add-on program....are you postive you did it before in WORD itself?
