You're going to have to provide more information about your system and the kind of slow down problems that you're seeing. For instance, is this a problem that just started or is it something that has been on going for a while? Have you recently added any new software or new hardware? Have you done any updates recently (like a firewall update) that correlates to the start of the slow down problem? You mentioned that you have Windows XP. Right click on the My Computer Icon and choose "Properties". Does it show Windows XP SP2? What processor and processor speed does it show? What RAM does it show? See this pictureHave you scanned your system with both an up-to-date anti-virus and a anti-spyware program(s) to ensure that your system is not infected? See this page And this Microsoft pageI hope something here will help! Dwight

What type of Norton do you have? Antivirus? Internet security? Norton products in general WILL slow down your computer noticably, as Norton's programs are resource hogs, unfortunately. I use nearly all free programs on my computer, and very rarely have any virus or spyware related problems. I have bought Pest Patrol off of Ebay, and I use it, but find its not as good as Ewido Security suite, which in a limited version, is free. Also I use Avast Free Edition as my anti-virus program, and Sygate Personal firewall (free) . I also have Ad Aware SE, CCleaner, RegscrubXP,WinASO RegDefrag 1.0 and Spybot Search and Destroy. These programs are good to keep about all the nasties off your computer, and they cost very little if anything. You can do a Google search for these programs, and download them if you like. My best advice after that is to read the tutorials very closely to learn how to use them. Good luck. chris
