I got a message that said Norton Anti-Virus had detected an internal error and I should uninstall and reinstall it. I'm obviously not a computer wizard. If I uninstall it, then where will I find it to reinstall it. The Symantec website was its usual lack-of-help. Thanks.

Do you not have the original disk for your Norton? If you do, it would not be a problem uninstalling & reinstalling you Norton Anti-Virus. Another option is to install one of the free anti-virus programs out there like A V G from Grisoft or else you can also us A N T I V I R From H+BEDV in Germany. They are both available for free and can be programmed to update and check your system every 24 hrs.

I didn't install it from a disk. I downloaded it. It's already paid for, so I don't need a free one. Thanks.

Before uninstalling, give this suggestion from Symantec a try:

"Some causes of this internal error problem are fixed by a Norton AntiVirus program update. To install the update, start Norton AntiVirus, run LiveUpdate, download all available updates, and then restart the computer when prompted. For more details on how to run LiveUpdate, see the document: On this page"

You can uninstall a program from the Control Panel/Add-Remove programs applett. You will find the Control Panel by clicking the Start menu, then looking for and clicking the Control Panel entry.

With Symantec's Norton AntiVirus you can also uninstall it from the Start/All Programs/Norton AntiVirus menu entry. Look for the "Uninstall" link.

To reinstall the program, look for the original downloaded file on your computer. If you're not finding the file, try this page for assistance.
