I caught it, AVG found it, but couldn't cure it. I googled it and found there is a MS patch, but was leery of using it, having had so many problems before after downloading MS 'repairs'. (I run under Win 98 SE).

An advice site said since it is in a cache file, it would be sufficient to just run

* Accessories
**System tools
***Disk Cleanup
and I did do that. AVG now gives me a clean report.

But am I o.k. now? Confused

bab,
Are you using XP? If so, you should disable System Restore to permanently get rid of it. Also, if you have Win ME, same thing, then re-enable it after rebooting. This site can tell you how:

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Chris. Smile Actually I'm running under Win 98 SE. It seems stable enough right now, so I guess it's gone.

If you would like a "second opinion", you can run a free online scan at the Norton (Symantec) site, the McAfee site, or the PCPITSTOP.com site.

The links in order are:
Symantec

McAfee

PCPITSTOP.com

If these scans show a clean bill of health, then your system should indeed be clean. Please keep in mind that there is sometimes disagreements over what is actually a worm virus. For instance, McAfee says the program file "BackWeb Lite" is a virus, yet other dismiss it completely.

PCPITSTOP found my system clean, thanks, Doug.

Also, for future reference, PCPITSTOP is compatible with Mozilla.

I've had that 'virus' and got rid of it by clearing my Java cache!
