It appears that you’re running both Symantec’s Internet Security and the AVG Antivirus program. Trying to run both antivirus programs at the same time is sure to cause some system conflicts. I would suggest you uninstall on or the other of these. If it were me, I would uninstall the Symantec Internet Security program because in my opinion too much is being attempted by a single program. If something goes wrong with the program, your whole computer is going to suffer.

What I would suggest is:
AVG for your AntiVirus needs.
ZoneAlarm for your firewall needs http://www.zonelabs.com (free version)
Spybots, Ad-Aware and SpywareBlaster for your Anti-spyware needs http://dwightblackburn.com#spyware

Block unwanted parasites with a modified “hosts” file (free)

I suggest that you uninstall the Yahoo Toolbar and all associated program files. In my experience these can cause a number of different problems. Uninstalling the toolbar does not mean you cannot use the Yahoo services. You can place a shortcut to the yahoo site on your desktop and enjoy easy access.
I would suggest that you use the Control Panel --> Add-Remove Programs utility to uninstall the two programs and only after restart look for and remove any of these entrys in HighJackThis.

Ok, I have those sweepers, now how do I get the coolwww stuff off of my computer? When I run Spyboy S&D it still scans coolwww files. It doesn't display them as bad files at the end of the scan either.

Also, here's the new Hijack This scan. It doesn't want to let me get rid of a few of those Symantec files. I'll fix them then rescan and they're back right away.

When attempting to make a complex repair like this, it would be much better to provide details. For instance, if you uninstalled the Symantc Internet Options program, restarted your computer and then ran a new HighJack This scan, you should say so. Otherwise we have no way we can advise you because we don't know for sure what steps you have taken.

Ok, I ran Hijack This and removed the Syamntec files which you suggested I delete. When I restarted they had returned. I have tried to remove them a couple of times.

As far as the "sweepers". I downloaded each of the sweepers you had suggested and ran them in the order which you specified.

When I run a scan with Spybot S&D it still shows that it is scanning coolwww files/folders. However, when I run CWShredder it does not detect any CW files.

Ok, I think I have to say, "my bad", cuz I think when Spybot S&D is scanning, I think it's just checking to see if the computer has those nasties, and not ACTUALLY seeing them on there. Sometimes I'm such a tard. But, still my previous Symantec post remains a mystery to me.

I assume that at one point, some version of the Symantec Internet Security was installed on your system. When uninstalling the Symantec product, there are three program files that need to be removed. The Internet Security program itself, the Live Update service, and the Live Reg utility program.

The Live Update service and the Live Reg utility should not be removed if you have other Symantec programs installed (like their fax software for instance).

If these are not visible in your Add-Remove Programs utility, the easiest way to do this may be to reinstall the Internet Security, then run the uninstall from the Add-Remove Programs list. If you do that, I would suggest you first remove the AVG Anti-virus software, then once the Symantec product is removed completely, reinstall the AVG Anti-Virus.

If you're not able to reinstall the Symantec product, perhaps the Symantec Removal Tool or the manual removal instructions may help.
