Last year we had a bad time clearing Hotbar off other members computers Mad
Hotbar is a nasty hijack trojan (putting it mildly)
Anyway today I came across the latest reincarnation of this *******!!!! (think that is the correct spelling? Smile)

If you see an advert for Crazy Animated Emoticons with 3 giant smilies including one with head injury (and mechanicals showing) this is the ad to avoid..(no clue to site location given when viewed in Properties Mad) You land at the Hotbar site Mad
Pass this on to your contacts Smile
There are other sites with emoticons of the same type but no hidden nasty
This is One nasty surprise
And the only safe way to approach the Hotbar site is to have a spyware stopper such as Spywareblaster running in the background

Ps There is another which has many emoticons but does have a site address but I did not follow that to the source(same page(rotating ads))

Thanks for the "heads up" bedstor! I'll keep an eye out for that one, even though I'm not interested in ANY ads I see, LOL. Being a member here has educated me beyond allowing something like that to get to my pc, and I'm eternally grateful for that! Thanks again!

How Weird!! I wish I would have seen this post earlier. I was looking for desktop icons and ran across it. I downloaded this today!! It had some really cool stuff on it. I continued searching and found a post on how it tracks you. (Of course the site said it doesn't) I figured it was safe because I downloaded it from TechTV. It didn't install as a program. I had to run search and destroy twice and ad aware twice. I finally got rid of it. (I hope) I did a search on my computer and didn't find it at all. It was in my registry! I hope I got rid of it. I'm gonna do a scan and repost here in a minute and see if it came back.

Well I scanned my computer with AVG, search and destroy and ad aware. I also just did a complete computer search. I think it is gone. (I hope it is) A few others to avoid is Bonzi Buddy and Comet Cursor. Nasty stuff! Mad

Thanks.

Check out this site I just found. I has removal tools on it and a section on how to remove hotbar.
