I received this email with regard an antique phone i am selling with the buy and sell.

Message:

Hello, I am interested in buying your advertised 1911 antique phone, kindly get back to me with your mode of payment and the present condition, and the pics. I will look forward to urgent response. Fred.

So I responded with this:
Payment is a certified check from the bank, excellent condition, the only pic. i have is the one in the ad.

And he responded with this:
Hello,
Thanks for the response , I would have loved to pay in cash but due to some circumstances beyond my control i wouldn't be able to do that as am on a business trip.I will arrange as regards the payment my mode of payment will be through cashiers check or money order .Kindly send me these details where to send the check such as your full names(how it should appear on check,postal address and a valid home/cell number so that it can be sent to you ASAP.I await your swift response so that we can further discuss.warmest regards.

Ok first of all i never mentioned CASH, and who is going to send me money without looking at the phone first, this is the second time this has happened to me, different person last time, i responded to the first person that don't you want to see the phone first, never heard back from the person, and now i have a new person doing this but i can't figure out what the scam is, if you know please tell me

You are not obliged to sell if something like this crops up If you have another person waiting and they have the correct money then sell it to them

If not withdraw the sale(ignore any further messages) and post again elsewhere. There are many other places such as Gumtree,Loot, Recycler...

I agree that it just doesn't sound right. I would just ignore the guy.
