How do you turn off parental controls in XP home? I have been searching through my xp and cannot find anything on parental controls at all. My friend has them set on her computer and needs to turn them off.

Try this:
1. Go to Start/Help and Support
2. Find the Search bar
3. Type in: parental control
4. Click the green horizontal arrow.

You should see two results:
Using Content Advisor to control access
and
Using Internet Explorer

I hope this will help!

Well NOW she tells me, it is norton controls error message coming up. That is preventing her daugher access to msn messenger. She said she thinks there is parental controls set up in Norton. I have never heard of this. Is it possible? I have read the acess to options. Any ideas??

The Norton AntiVirus/Internet Security does this. It has a Firewall which can block both incoming and outgoing traffic. It can block spam and "pop-up" ads as well.

Have you friend open the Norton Internet Security and disable it temporarily to see if that is the problem. If she finds that it works with the Internet Security turned off, then she can "tweak" the settings to both provide Security and still allow her daughter to use the Instant Messaging software.
