I have and still do run Spybot search and destroy, it also asks me permissions.
I denied a permission a few weeks ago and I am getting pop-ups one on top of the other on the right hand side of my monitor.
I will type verbatim:
It says " Resident Registry change denied.
Resident denied the change of search page.
(category browser page based on your black list)."
This happens every time I access the internet and when I close it which takes a few tries, I get 'program not responding', and then I click on end now. I have sent error reports to Microsoft, all I get back is the unknown problem is from Spybot. Spybot is my friend along with Ad-aware, in fact I ran them both today. This is not crippling but it is annoying.
Can somebody shed some light/help on this?
Thanks,
- Roog -

Spybots is telling you that something (perhaps you?) is attempting to change the default home page of your Web browser program. The change is trying to put up a page that is listed on the "black list" meaning it is a known problem page.

This is a fuction of the "Tea Timer" part of Spybots. It is possible that the Tea Timer is in error, and if so it can be turned off (I leave mine off and have had no problems).

Instruction for this are found: on this page

If you're not using SpywareBlaster, I would suggest you also run this program. It's primary function is to prevent spyware problems and in my experience it does a very good job.

You can download the free (For Home Use) SpywareBlaster at this link: http://dwightblackburn.com#spyware

Click the SpywareBlaster link, then right-click on the SpywareBlaster and choose "Save Target As".

After installing th e program, update it and then "enable protection". Once this is done, you can close the program. I suggest checking for program updates at least once a week and enabling protection each time new updates are installed.

You can also disable the protection should you desire to do that.

It is suggested that yuo take a snapshot of your system with the built in snapshot tool. This will provide a "backup" to your current configuration.

I hope this helps!

Dwight
