Stupid thing. I can't get rid of it....even my virus scan won't get rid of it. Any clues how to kill the danged thing?

It was coming up as soon as I logged in, as if it was my homepage. Now I get a page telling me it's not available right now, try later....I don't care if it's never available again!
ACK!

Cyndi,
Have you tried running Ad Aware 6 and Spybot? After looking for similar references to Sirux, I found many references to it being spyware linked to a dialer program. Please try these programs, and if they dont remove it, post back. Good luck!

Thanks, Chris, I downloaded Spybot and that seems to have taken care of the problem.
Along with 119 others that were lurking.

Which version of SpyBot are you using? Here is a link for SPYBOT 1.3
Also, in AdAware, click on "Settings", then select "Tweak", then "Cleaning Engine" & make sure that you select "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion".... oh yeah.... make sure that you check for updates on both programs before you run them. Good Luck

Danged Sirux thing is still with me. My roommate, the techy girl, researched it and found that it was licensed to a site called Slotch, but I'd never even seen that site.

I'm just closing it out when it comes up now. Tired of fighting with it. They win.

Cyndi,
You might try doing a search for Sirux in all files and folders, then deleteing all of them that come with that name in them. In the meantime, I'm going to research it some more. Good luck!

Cyndi,
I cannot seem to find any kind of removal tool for Sirux, since you did a virus scan, you might try going to a site and having a different anti virus company scan your computer, it may find it. What kind of anti virus do you have? You might try this site:

www.housecall.trendmicro.com

Do a full scan after downloading the software needed,(it takes a few minutes to download), and if it doesnt find anything, you could try this site:

www.pcpitstop.com

and do a full anti virus scan there. I did find another post on a different site recommending to download Hijackthis, as putasolutions usually suggests, and post the log to let someone advise you what needs to be changed. I hope something here helps you out.
