Some guy at (duma.gov.ru) tried to send me

W32/Dumaro.A@mm Vvirus

1. Is this a new one?

2. It it windows based?

3. Cuz I keep all my E-Mail on a MAC am I safe?

4. Does anybody know what the latest version of NAV or SYSTEM WORKS for MAC-OS9 is?

5. The subject says Virus Scanning Agent.

It says postmaster@smtp-send.myrealbox.com. I wish all my other accounts were that careful.

Dumaru is about 2 or 3 weeks old. Symantec added it to its virus definitions within a couple of days. Any virus whose name begins "W32" is by definition Windows-based, and do not affect Macs (except for rare viruses designed to compromise either Mac or PC systems).

You should be aware the e-mail's originating address is probably meaningless. It is common for the address to be fake ("spoofed").
