Dad called me today complaining of something underneath his address bar. After chatting awhile find out it is hotbar. We don't know how he got it. Dad is computer illiterate. I go him to do as bedstor had posted earlier. We went and un-installed it then I got him to go to adware and run that then get rid of anything that came up there. Is there something else he should do or is this all?
Thanks
N2

Hi N2
I spotted this just on log off time so I'll have to do this quick
You and your dad have now got to find a program called spywareblaster from www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareblaster.html
After downloading your 1st task is to make a "system snapshot" ... hit the "system snapshot" button to save this ,then hit the "update" button then the "select all" button Ok and hit the "Protect against checked items!" button Make sure the whole list is ticked? anything unticked appears in red .
If everything goes ok your Dads Comp is now bullet proof against spyware Evey few weeks run the update Always adding new stuff Mad present number is 882 items Eek
Also try locating this program Easycleaner and run it every few weeks it will flush the remains of Hotbar out of the computer also tidy up and speed things up only a tiny download but a great Help Cool

Holy bedstor. I thought I would download the spyblaster to help my dad when he calls. I too have 882. That is alot. What happens if you check something by accident? Is it as simple as unchecking the box?

No No, you don't have 882!! That is the number of items Spywareblaster will prevent Smile Wink
When you check an item you are allowing the prgram to prevent it from installing in your computer. Always check them all and indicate you want to be protected against all checked items.

Thanks qual I realized that after I posted the question and took a closer look at the program. Thanks for answering though. And you cleared up my question on whether or not I had to check all the red items.
