Ok, My brother was trying to do a test online for school when my computer kept telling him my computer had a virus.

He had a test online was being timed so he had no time to listen to my computer so to make a long story short, he don't remember what the virus was. I did an online test on my computer and the site said I had a virus called: adw ruledor.c in c:/program files/clearsearch/loader.exe

It said the virus was on my computer in two places and I deleted one and it said couldn't get rid the other because it was running.

What kind of virus is this and how do I get it off my computer. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Usually, if a file cannot be removed because it is running you can restart the computer in Safe Mode and then remove it.

Restart your computer. At the first screen or the POST (Power On Self Test) beep, repeatedly press the F8 key.

This will open the "Windows Start Menu". Use your Arrow keys to scroll to the Safe Mode option. With Safe Mode selected, press the "Enter" key.

If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, you will also need to delete the information in the System Restore folder, so that the virus doesn't reinfect the system.

Read about System Restore here.

I hope this helps!

I read on the site I used to scan my computer and it said adw ruledor.c is
Spyware.

If my computer thinks I have a virus then why when I scanned it at this site http://housecall.antivirus.com/ it does not find a virus?

Maybe I should scan it at another site. Know any other good siteS to do so for free?

Thanks Dwight for your help....Pace

You might also download, update and run the following programs, and run a scan at least once a week:

Ad Aware 6
Spybot Search and Destroy

Both can be found at the following site:

www.pcworld.com/downloads

Just click the "Most popular utilities" link.

Good luck!
