I tried to fix a worm. The welchia through symantec. I didn't pay attention and didn't do it properly. I didn't disconnect from internet or turn off system restore. I just opened the repair tool instead of saving it. I went and followed proper directions after I already did this once. How bad did I screw up?? Any harm done? win xp. From what I can tell not much is gone only 2 files were infected and they were both excel. Which I know not too much about. But looks fine.

Howdy Nadca:

Odds are, no harm done.. System Restore simply would have kept the infected files and you would have been re-infected right after you re-booted because of this..

If you ran the tool again following the instructions, then all should be good !!

Whew.. Thank goodness because it is a company computer and well you know could have been messy. I checked around in it and seems fine. Thanks for the reply so quickly.
