I have a question about the above. I have this installed on my Laptop which runs on Win XP Home.
When I switched on today I had a window with a warning that I may need Live Updates from the Symetec site, I'm never sure what to do, I know I need to keep my system updated, however, i clicked on next and it began to download what it thought I may need, however, it took, or appeared to me, to take such along time, so i clicked 'cancel' as I had other things to get on with. However, no sooner had I done this and the LiveUpdates were being aborted. and was told this may take a few minutes, half an hour later the same window still appeared with nothing to my way of thinking actually happening. So, I'm afraid I did a restaart to ged rid of it. Did I do the right thing, or should I have let it run its course originally without cancelling the updates?
Incidentally, if shown updates I'll be honest I'd have no idea which I needed.
Those automatic updates are very important, and you should let them download and install. You can go back and do it manually by opening the Norton Anti-Virus program, then clicking the "Live Update" button.
Also, you can open the *Control Panel, then open "Live Update" and do the update from there. Either way, you'll get the same updates.
While the Live Update is downloading, you can go on and do other things. A simple way to do that is do press the **"Windows" key and the "D" key at the same time. This action will minimize everything on your screen taking you back to your Desktop.
Once the Norton download/install is complete, you may receive a dialog box informing you that the just installed update requires a system restart. You can ignore the dialog box until you're ready to restart the computer, then click the "OK" button and your system will restart.
I hope this helps!
Dwight
*Control Panel: Start/Control Panel or Start/Settings/Control Panel
**Windows Key: Usually located between the "Ctrl" key and the "Alt" key on your keyboard. It generally has a "Flying Windows" icon.

I'm obliged to you Dwight I did think I should have let it run and in future will certainly do so.
I have found the windows key right where you said - well we learn all the time.
Incidentally, my Desktop is currently being diagnosed, as I've said but it is believed the bulk of my problem is probably hardware - the guy doing this is very busy right now, but I sure prefer working from the desktop - though I have a USB keyboard installed which makes typing with the laptop so much easier.
