Hi butter

Can you tell me is the control security status panel all showing a green tick against all the Items?
Email scanner is at the bottom of the list

I think some how the connection is trying to work as a dialup connection or LAN for Broadband depending on what sort of connection you have? swapping them over should restore control

But ...there is a version update available Out yesterday which could do the job without doing anything.Either click the check for updates Banner or link and the new version will take a minute to download and the setting should be repaired
Give it a day or 2 then check if the checker is working (with a green tick) and let us know?

Newest version is AVG Free Edition 7.5.476

If you cannot find the upgrade links you can get it from this page http://filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/
or click this link to start the update

They do a once a day virus update but occasionally do 2 or more in a day so if its automatically updated it does skip ...but you always get the version update eventually manual updating is worthwhile if there is a version update announced and you are overdue

As for the Virus updates if that seems to "skip" a number it is installed with the last update you accept ...so you are always got the latest protection Smile

Had an Idea which might work

Open the AVG Control Center panel

Click on the email checker Line to show a new window click "Disable Plugin" then "OK"

Window closes and there is a message showing in the tool tray by the clock, and a red marker against the item
Click on the item again to show the window ...click the "Configure" button next screen click the "Default" button in the left bottom corner and the "OK" button to go back to the status screen...

Scanner still showing red New button appears below this list "Activate" click it scanner goes green and you can close the program
Now the test ..does it work now?
Let us know the results
Thanks
Looks a lot but will only take you a few seconds to do.

Ok i deleted AVG and reinstalled it again, so here's hoping it worked. If you don't hear from me again then it worked.

Thank You
