1.) I have been receiving alot of email lately from people I do not know. The email messages are blank but they come with files attatched(that I to DL)

2.) I have been receiving emails from other people my friend emails. Her friends that don't even know me. And they too, come with a file attachment

My question is do you just have to open the email to receive the virus or do you have to DL the attatchment that comes with it?

Very often, if you are using Hotmail or Yahoo mail, the virus has already been caught before it gets to you. The blank email is just an indication that a potential threat was there but, was caught. Many ISPs also incorporate some form of virus protection within their services.
