I have to say I do not like this newer version, 7.0.300. It's very hard to get updates, they have it under scheduled tasks in the control center around 8:00 am and 9:30 am, but when it starts its download it will bring up a little alert saying AVG Priority update in the taskbar for just a sec, then when I try to get the udate, it says download failed, try your internet connection settings....what's up with that?
Should I just do my updates manually, and forget about scheduling them?

I've tried everything to get this update, and the AVG icon is greyed out. I even went into my ZA is allow permission and it still doesn't download, just keeps giving me that little message by the icon saying Priority update available.

So, my icon is still greyed out, does that mean it's not working? Should I do a system restore, or uninstall AVG and then reinstall? Can I go back to an older version, I really do not like this newer version? Is AVG trying to make you buy the Professional version? Anyone's opinion would be grateful.
Also, is there any other free antivirus programs out there, that are not just trial versions?

Here is another free Antivirus Software called ANTIVIR
It's from Germany, is small & quite effective. It can also be configured to automatically update & scan everyday, once a week, every work day etc. Just click on the "Download" button on the left, then on the next page, click on the Antivir logo.

Well, I got the AVG working finally but it seemed like it was AVG's end, must have had problems with their server.
Thanks for the info on the antivirus programs, will keep that in mind if this happens again. Wink
