OK...last month I came up with a virus. An old one, Nimda. Mystery had sent me patches to eraticate it, which seemed to help for awhile, but I think it's back, or I have something else.
The two most common error messages I'm getting are:
YPager.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. When I get this one, my Yahoo Messenger closes, and I have to reboot before I can get back in.
I also get:
svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows - when I get this one, I cannot access websites
Last weekend, I ran a defrag and virus scan in safe mode, and deleted any virus files it found. I also installed a firewall - I previously just had McAfee VirusScan, but added the Firewall too.
I'm not sure what else I can do...any suggestions?
Have you recently installed a different version of Yahoo instant messanger? Or have you installed the Yahoo companion toolbar? Because the error messages you are receiving is what typically occurs when you've loaded a Yahoo application that is not running smoothly.
Before you start freaking out over a possible virus, try this. Uninstall every Yahoo program you have. Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add/Remove programs and delete your Yahoo programs.
Then try to reinstall them. I actually suggest that when you are installing Yahoo messenger you just select the messenger portion and not install the companion toolbar or any other feature.
Try that and see if this stops the error messages.

Give it a few days and see if it stops. I have noticed that every time I download updated versions of MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger I start getting error messages and the applications quit on me. I usually end up uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of times before everything starts working smoothly.
