My inbox has just received a spam message. It shows the sender as me, i.e. my e-mail address, and was sent to that same address.
What does this signify? Has some spammer got access to my computer or e-mail account or is the explanation less sinister? What should I do about it?

Fred
The True ID of this spammer is in the headers
(all the gobbledegook message )
I Know you are an AOL member like me and If it has come from outside of AOL then it will be marked Fredpuli@Aol.com whereas if you sent to to youself It come up as Plain Fredpuli (Aol member to member) If the Latter is the case then Give the member helpline a call Will have to change your password or NOT be always signed in
The COSmail report service does not seen to be supported now

Delete the Mail and monitor the situation for a few days (and also don't forget the Password tip)
In the event they "blitz" your mail box(as what happened to me Eek )then your account is locked and NO SURFING! Then the only "get out" is to reset the Password via the Phone they give you a Temporary Password and you input a new Password (on AOL 9 )

History note: If you only access AOL mail via Internet Explorer then the AOL 9 Connection software is not needed Smile Therefore they cannot break your surfing, only your online AOL mailbox. (Hope that clarifies Things?)
PS I Have Gmail which is set to collect AOL mail too (Simple setup with POP/IMAP)acts also as a 2nd or Primary filter on Spam depending on which service I'm using So My Spam boxes are down to a trickle on both Cool
TIP On the AOL MailBox it says you can access your Gmail and Yahoo accounts . I found a Lot more unfiltered spam coming in (from the Yahoo direction) Cannot Recommend this (more grief than help Frown
