Okay, got another gray box come up from the Microsoft Internet Explorer saying:
SECURITY WARNING!!!
Microsoft Internet Activities are now logged.
Click OK to Fix Now!
There's an Ok or Cancel button to click, again I just clicked the upper right hand X to close out of.
I'm starting to get angry now, I've tried going to Symantec's online to scan but it's not scanning, because it says I haven't got IE 5.0 or higher and I did enable all the ActiveX and scripting and it won't work. I am going to try the Cleanup Tool that it talks about here:
Where are these boxes located on the pages you are viewing? Are they near the top where general advertising is located? I think, if they are, they are advertising, and I would just ignore them. But, it seems that you are having other issues as well. Have you done a plain old virus scan? You should post this in another section, because I don't think it's a virus, I think a little tweaking with your configuration might help. Try beginners issues, or resources, Tom, Dwight, Murry, Byter, etc... they'll be able to help.
It showed up when I was on Symantec's site, checking into the security patch that I was about to download, it appeared in the middle of my screen, a little grey box... I did do the online scan afterwards and nothing was found, so once again, guess I'm getting advertisement, grrrr, that's okay I think I got it covered now.

I think LVLF is right, you're seeing ads that appear in the form of a standard Windows error message dialog box.
The best "tip off" that this is an ad and not an actual error message diaglog box is the close "X" in the top right corner.
Look at the sample error message boxes on this page and compare the "close" button to the close button (with the minimize and Restore/Maximize) buttons on your Internet Explorer window.
The ads that try to imitate a standard Windows error dialog box are actually a web page displayed in Internet Explorer. The author has defined the window size and the window position, in an effort to trick you into clicking on it. You can click the "X" (close button) in the upper right hand corner to close the window. Clicking anywhere else on the page will take you to the page they're trying to entice you into seeing.

I don't think I was very clear in my previous message. The "Close" button I was referring to is the "X" in the top right corner. A real error message dialog box does not have the minimize and restore/maximize button, only the "X".
I you're seeing the minimize and restore/maximize buttons in addition to the "X", then you're looking at a Internet Explorer window, which is an advertisement.
