Why do only female mosquitoes consume human blood? What do male mosquitoes eat?

Females need the protein in blood to help their eggs develop. Males, of course, don't produce eggs so they have no need for blood. But they still need to eat, so they often dine on sweets, yet their main food is, believe it or not, excrement produced by aphids.

Same old, same old....blood-sucking females leaving the guys with the taste of **** in their mouths.
