As big a fan as I am of Pete Rose, I stupidly missed the game the other night when Mastercard listed their top ten baseball events of all time---I think that Pete's came in with #6. Anyone know where I could find this list? It was pretty cool that Mastercard insisted that Pete be able to participate, don't you think? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 10-26-02, 06:22 AM Jelp01 Kelleygirl, this story has the information about the top 10 you need.
I was surprised, too, to see Pete there. I don't feel too sorry for him, because he knew the consequences of his actions beforehand, but it was nice to see him included.

Mastercard didn't have to insist on anything. It was not a Major League Baseball sponsored promotion, so they couldn't have kept him away anyway.

Point is they (Mastercard) didn't have to include Pete but they did.
Thanks for your help, Jelp---I know it's a controversial topic but I appreciate you coming up to the plate anyway. razz

10-26-02, 11:32 AM niccincoogol I'll be the other leper here - I'm glad Pete was part of the presentation.
And that list was questionable - howzabout a list of the real top MOMENTS (not EVENTS like Mastercard included) in MLB history?
A couple -
* Joe Carter's WS HR * Ozzie's barehanded diving grab
etc. etc. ADD TO THIS LIST !!!!!!
10-31-02, 07:27 PM dogspit Couple quick ones to add:
-Pete Rose rolling over Fosse. -Ron Swoboda's miracle catch. -Rick Monday saving the flag. -Clemens throwing a chunk of bat at Piazza. -Joe Niekro dropping the emery board from his pocket when the ump came out to check scuffing.
11-01-02, 04:40 AM BobLaz Can't forget Carlton Fisk waving his home run away from the foul pole--or my man George Brett going BONKERS against the Yankees in the famous "pine tar" incident..
cool
11-02-02, 12:27 AM niccincoogol And who was that nut that hit a HR, then ran all the bases backwards? Now that was cool.
And what about Hoyt Wilhelm's first at bat ever? He hit a HR, and never hit another for 21 years. Funny moment.

I believe that was CT's own Jimmy Piersall--if I'm not mistaken..
cool
