A ball is hit by the batter down the first base line. Before passing first base, it bounces in foul territory. Still before first base, and before it bounces in fair territory, the first baseman, who is standing in fair territory, catches the ball. Is the ball fair?
N.B. I'm not sure where the ball was (over fair or foul territory) when it was caught. Is this the important consideration? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It is the ONLY consideration. The feet of the fielder are of no concern, only the position of the ball when touched. If the ball is over fair territory, FAIR BALL. Over foul territory, FOUL BALL.
