So, who is going to win the World Series? The online betting service used here has the odds the same for both teams to win it but the Tigers as favourites to win the second match: both at 10/11 to win the Series but Tigers at 8/15 to win this match and the Cardinals at 6/4 'Course I forget Since last week, when the President signed the prohibition into law, you haven't been able to bet online, unlike the sinful British. Still, I expect you can get uterly honest odds and dealings in some bar or barber's shop +++++++++++++++Big Grin 10-22-06, 07:26 PM DorianGreyed In a short series, I feel the team that is "hot" usually wins. The Cardinals have found a way to win, regardless of injuries and individual cold streaks in the last two series; it seem that their pitchers come up with the big game, even if they are rookies, and if the big guns aren't hot, a regular player or sub seems to be. It's hard to beat luck like that.
With regard to tonight's game, the Tigers need to win, and should be favored. If, however, they don't, the Series is all but over. Winning 4 out of 5 games is really hard to do, especially against a team that is hot.
This is all to be taken with a grain of salt, however. I live just a few miles from the St. Louis ballpark. I may be just a bit biased.
10-22-06, 09:41 PM Kelleygirl I think (and hope) that the Tigers go all the way for these -- my personal reasons: 1) They bet the Yankees 2) I really like Sean Casey -- can't believe that he's no longer with my beloved Reds 3) Can't stand Tony LaRussa 4) Kenny Rogers looks like he can't be beat 5) I think that they are the hungriest.
10-23-06, 05:13 AM FredPuli The usual tip to beginners and people with no knowledge of a particular sport but who wish to bet is "Follow the market movements" Doing that would have got you a profit in the second match Smile.
And now the online bookmakers have Tigers favourite to win the Series. The market obviously thinks that from levelling to one all the Tigers have now got their act together.Prices: Tigers 4/7 (from 10/11 before the second match) Cardinals 11/8 (from 10/11).
Good to know that fans on AP favour heart ruling head; favouring a team for personal reasons; just like fans here ! (Heck, if we supported a team on grounds of logic, its record and its prospects, many of our soccer clubs would playing home games to "one man and his dog", as we say here ) Big Grin

I didn't realize that Pete Rose had joined the Tigers organization. Wink
10-23-06, 02:05 PM clarebear If the Tigers win, I will probably know by the riots downtown. (I remember last time) I haven't really watched baseball since they striked.
Ridiculous stuff! Roll Eyes

I know you love sports. I'm glad your team won.
I always enjoy hearing you talk about the sporting events you have attended. I remember you telling me about that one time you went to the arena. I think it was the christians against the lions. Wink
