As we all know, the price of ice cream is...well, pricey. Just a half-gallon of your basic flavor can grab a crisp Lincoln out of your wallet! That is why I ask the common, ever lasting question we always ask about our foods and products: Is there a cheaper way?
If anyone has any make-your-own-ice-cream links, ideas, or a "poor man's" recipe for ice cream, I'd love to hear 'em!
And no "freeze your cereal milk" stuff either!
*PS--I thought I saw Nigela Lawson (Nigela Bites,"domestic goddess") do a very easy and simple ice cream thing where she just opened, poured, and froze. That was it! But I didn't commit it to memory and now I can't find the recipe for it on the site! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 08-20-02, 09:45 PM esencia here are a couple of sites. The 2nd one has some tips along with it. Enjoy!! smile
type in "ice cream" in the search to get actual recipes. No ice cream maker, really creamy, cheap ice cream.
I've got "hard" copies of recipes not included on the site, tried 'em, and loved 'em!
This from some one whose favorite recipe (her own, of course) requires an ice cream maker for Bittersweet Chocolate & Vodka Ice Cream. If you're really nice (and Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally patient) I'll get the rest of my "cookbooks" out of storage and, eventually, post them here!
08-23-02, 07:04 PM Buggirl Sweet! Thanks. That would be great! I can wait cuz it looks like this summer heat ain' goin nowhere! Thanks you guys!-B. *ps--I tried a suggestion from a friend to mix sweetened evaporated milk with a bit of heavy whipping cream; delicious but very high in fat and calories. Yikes!
