If i drilled a hole thru the earth starting at Tucson,Az. where would i come out? My guess is Eastern Afghanistan.

I'm assuming thet the hole has to pass through the center of the Earth (otherwise it could be just about anywhere).
Tucson, according to this site is at 32.12° N, 110.93° W. As I explained in this thread, you need to invert the latitude (North-South) and subtract 180° in longitude (East-West). So, for Tucson, you'd come out at 32.12° S, 69.07° S. According to Mapquest, this puts you in the middle of the Indian Ocean. |

Magnetic North has no bearing (no pun intended) in what is on the other side of the Earth. What you are asking is the location of the other end of a diameter of a circle whose circumference is that of the Earth's, and whose center is the center of the Earth. When you think about it that way, maybe you can see that Magnetic North isn't important. Try imagining doing the same thing with a basketball.
