According to my source, it was in 1600, (or 1599 if one wants to split hairs over when the legislation passed, as opposed to when the change actully took place).

1600 is right SR, and England changed it only in 1752 because they were protestant and didn't want to follow other Catholic countries who had already made the change in 1582 (170 years earlier). See here
