George W. Bush is the 43rd President but Grover Cleveland (1837-1908) was the 22nd and 24th president of the United States, the only president to have served two nonconsecutive terms making 42 the number of "ACTUAL (individual) PRESIDENTS" of the United States.

Under the present COnstitution, 42. However, the current Bush is the 43rd President of the US, underthe Constitution. There were about 7 other Presidents of the United Statesd befor ethe Constitution, their full title being President of the United States of America, in Congress Assembled.
