The ancient Egyptians believed that the vein in the third finger ran directly to the heart.

The first recorded diamond engagement ring was presented to Mary of Burgudy from the Archduke Maximilian of Austria in the fifteenth century.

Right about the second part Jenny, and the year was 1477.

However, for the first part of the question I am looking for one person who made the ring "made of gold" wore in the third finger as a public pledge honoring the marriage. My question was a bit evasive.
