1. Was awarded Germany's highest honor. 2. Had over 500 combat kills. 3. Credited with sinking a battleship and a cruiser. 4. Was shot down 32 times.
Who is he? +++++++++++++++Hans-Ulrich Rudel 07-25-02, 06:03 AM Kwll Ds is of course correct, Rudel was awarded the Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross with Golden Oak Leaves Swords and Diamonds and was the only individual of the war to receive this honor (although Adolph Galland was to be awarded next but the war ended before that could happen). Rudel was credited with destroying about 518 enemy tanks during the war while flying the JU-87 Stuka. Now for a couple of additional bonus questions concerning Rudel.
1. Name the battleship that he sank. 2. What modification to the Stuka did he invent?
cool
07-25-02, 03:05 PM deeptread On Sept. 23, 1941 he sunk the soviet battleship "Marat" . He helped to test a new "tank busting" Stuka that was equipped with two 37mm cannons.
07-25-02, 04:53 PM Sagus Deeptread is correct, except some webpages say it was the Russian Battleship October Revolution and the Cruiser Marat.
07-26-02, 11:43 AM Kwll Yep, right on target deeptread and Sagus.
