One dark night, When we were all in bed

Old Mother O’Leary lit a lantern in her shed:

The cow kicked it over, winked its eye, and said,

There’ll be a hot time in the old town tonight.

What is currently on the site of Old Mother O'Leary's shed?

(OK, OK, the cow didn't start the fire, but it's a great story, and the fire probably did start in O'Leary's shed.)

My Girl Scouts love this song! We do movements to the words, and we leave out the nouns and verbs as we go. The Fire, Fire, Fire at the very end is our favorite part.

You should see our other reditions of movement songs, my favorite being 'Rare Bog, Rattling Bog'. Also love 'Second Story Window', and 'When I Grow Up, I Wanna Be...'

I'm curious, VV; what are they words in the second line in your version? The version I printed is the one I remember, but in finding a reference, I came across several different descriptors used for O'Leary.

I think it's "Mrs. O'Leary lit a lantern in her shed." I'll check with the girls tonight, provided we have a meeting.
