Theta, a branch of Kappa Alpha Theta, was founded at Asbury University, Indiana in 1870, by Bettie Locke Hamilton.

An interesting piece of info. This one seems to be one of those semantic trivia conundrums... they call it the "... first national secret society for women ...", which is an interesting choice of words. Anyhow, excellent research, though it would still seem that the first official sorority may well have been Theta.

Thanks for posting the cool link and the update. I might need to find a more accurate wording to my question should I use it again.
