Two Civil War Generals (one a Colonel at the time) met on the battlefield a number of times, both had outfitted thier units using their own personal funds, both used an advanced tactic for the time...of using their Cavalry as mounted infantry, and they befriended each other after the war with one actually becoming a caretaker for the other in later years. Who were they? +++++++++++ 06-12-03, 01:12 PM Sailracer I recall a story about Col. Cameron and Col. Baker, but I don't believe they were Generals, so I'm probably off base.
06-12-03, 01:13 PM Kwll nope, good try though
06-12-03, 01:42 PM DorianGreyed Off Base...on a military question? Not good.
06-12-03, 01:45 PM Kwll lol @ DG....one was much more famous than the other...only hint.
06-18-03, 02:01 PM cavmantwo John Wilder formed the 'Lightning Brigade' from infantry regiments from Illinois and Indiana. He armed them with Spencer repeating carbines out of his own pocket. I'm guessing the other would be Nathan Bedford Forrest.
07-08-03, 09:34 AM Kwll Cool Hey great answer cavman two....that was a fairly tough question.
