In 1613 Samuel de Champlain published a book in Paris which contained an accurate description, maps included, of the territories explored during his voyages. Had a few of the Pilgrims who later came to this country on the Mayflower visited Paris in 1613, they could have purchased in several Parisian book shops a copy of Voyage de la Nouvelle France . In it, they would have found a detailed chart of an area which Champlain had named ??????????? otherwise known as Plymouth, Massachusetts.
