11 days: the calendar was changed from Julian to Gregorian, belatedly,here then. There was an effort made to stop rents and other dated payments being charged for fewer days. That is why our tax year in the UK begins and ends when it does. The English fiscal year was dated to March 25th. This was redated to its present date April 5th. The notion that there were riots in protest is misconceived. There is a Hogarth print showing rioting peasants yelling for the return of their 'lost' days but that is a joke about stupidity, not a representation of historic fact.
