Ghaandi is/was refered to as 'Mahan Aatma'. This can be called his title (given by Indians). What does it mean ?

His opposite 'Muhammed Ali Jinnah' founder of Pakistan also has a title given to him by the muslims of the Sub Continent. What is that title and what does it mean ?

Great soul, but I thought it was Mahatma. Is yours just a different transliteration or does it have a different meaning?

A google search gave me the answer to the second (I think):

Jinnah is known to Pakistanis as Quaid-e-Azam, or "Great Leader."

Yes Sarai both your answers are right.

Mahatma is an abbreviation of Mahan Aatma.
Mahan means great. Aatma means soul.
Pronounced quickly it becomes Mahatma. Most people do write and say 'Mahatma'.
