Dietrich Bonhoeffer and his gang failed to assassinate Hitler. What went wrong during the assassination attempt?
Hint: The attempt occured in 1944. ********************* 10-19-05, 02:18 AM Jenny Roberts A bomb was placed in a briefcase under a table in Hitlers 'lair' The briefcase was moved by someone and put further along the table. The bomb did go off killing four men but only injured Hitler's arm. If it was in it's original place, it would have blown up all Hitlers henchmen. The date was July 20th 1944
That was too easy, apparently. I'll have to come up with a harder one Wink
10-19-05, 09:57 AM Jenny Roberts I knew the answer without looking it up! Big Grin
Yep, we love hard trivia. Big Grin
10-19-05, 10:02 AM Professor Was that the same assassination plot in which Field Marshal Rommel was implicated?
10-19-05, 10:17 AM KaelSaxen I don't know... that's another good question... lol Big Grin
10-19-05, 11:39 AM DorianGreyed Rommel was implicated in the plot, and committed suicide. However, some say he was not involved.
10-19-05, 02:43 PM Professor Thanks, DG. I haven't read about it, but I saw the old film biopic starring James Mason as Rommel, implying that he was clearly a co-conspirator and was pressured into suicide to insure the safe survival of his family.
10-19-05, 04:59 PM DorianGreyed Mason made such a good Nazi, didn't he?
10-19-05, 05:46 PM Professor A kinder, gentler Nazi. Smile Or are you referring to the fact that he's dead? Big Grin
10-19-05, 06:05 PM DorianGreyed "Or are you referring to the fact that he's dead? Big Grin"
That's Funny. I have to admit that I didn't think of that.
