That has been debated. Originally sketches show that it was octagonal (8 sides) but excavations of the remains indicate that it could have had 20 to 24 sides. The reason being, the theatre was suppose to be round but brick was expensive so the architects had to use wood and in order to give the appearance of rounded sides, had to create many sides.
