This Admiral won a major naval victory near the beginning of the 20th Century over a slightly larger naval fleet. The enormity of his victory earned him the sobriquet "the New Nelson". Who was he and what was the battle?
His victory was at least to some extent a tribute to the stupidity of the Russian Admiral, who had his ships painted white, and came through the most obvious point, an narrow strait which allowed only one Russian ship to come through at a time. The Japanese fleet took target practice as they came through. Had the Russians won, the Pacific Rim history would have been greatly changed. Russia, not Japan would have been the presence in the Pacific in the 1930s.

DG, add to that the fact that the Russian Fleet had nearly circumnavigated the globe prior to going into battle, had poor training, and ships that were meant mostly for coastal duty and not open sea warfare.
