Yes, he got 5 stars (and he was the last person to get it), but one man waited a lot longer!

Congress declared George Washington General of the Army and gave him his 5th star in 1978. He was 239 years old and 179 years dead.

But I'm sure he was grateful. If he had descendants (which he doesn't, despite someone here or at the other place thinks), and if they were like George, they'd lobby for increased retirement benefits. George never passed up a chance to make more money. Research his expense account as General.
