Here, at least, 'Mickey Mouse' means very poorly or cheaply made; a Mickey Mouse machine would only work erratically and would fall to bits. We would use it for a hasty, emergency temporary repair, using whatever can be found, too: " It's a bit Mickey Mouse but it should get us home" Smile

Same here, at least years ago, Fred. Another use of the phrase was by musicians. A Mickey band played wedding receptions and the like. Not serious music. That was back when if asked to play a rock song, the only tune that was acceptably was "Honky Tonk" "twist and SHout" or "What'd I Say." I was once chewed out by the guy running the Officers' Club for playing "red skirt" music and "Race Music." We played "Satisfaction" "Land of 1000 Dances" "Midnight Hour" and "Hold On, I'm Commin'." The times, they are a'changin'.
