Face it, the Democrats have sabotaged themselves and
the Supreme Court is Republican, so we'd better resign ourselves to the idea that McCain will get in. Can you identify any silver linings?
For example...
- The US wil be spared some half-assed attempt to modify its health care system. It'll lurch on, unchanged, until things get so bad that the demand for
real reform will be overwhelming.
- We'll be spared decades of whining that 'we were winning in Iraq until those liberals stabbed us in the back...'
- Those held pointlessly, illegally and indefinitely in isolation in Guantanamo will have the consolation that the President at least knows how they feel.
- (on a personal note) significant numbers of tourists and foreign students will continue to see the US as a strange and scary place, and opt to bring their business to Canada instead.
