It's my opinion that Donald Rumsfeld's days as Secretary of Defense are rapidly running out. I think that at least two active generals will speak out against him in the very near future, and that will be the tipping point. I give him 2-4 weeks from today. Does anyone else want to make a prediction? (Note: This isn't a discussion about whether or not he deserves it; it's just a poll of sorts asking how long he will remain in office.)
The winner gets 1 week's worth of Karrow's cooking. The second place prize is 2 weeks of Karrow's cooking.

In that case I predict he'll serve well into the next administration. **************************************************** 04-18-06, 06:36 PM Scotty

There is not much incentive to win, is there?
04-18-06, 10:58 PM honilov Do you mean he'll resign on his own or Bush will ask him to step down? Bush is really supporting him after those retired Generals wanted him to step down. Anyway, I think it'll be longer than 2-4 weeks before he's out.
Since Karrow's cooking doesn't seem very popular, maybe I won't set a date.
Dorian, Karrow will get you for this for sure. Big Grin
04-18-06, 11:18 PM DorianGreyed He will resign "on his own" saying that he feels that the emphasis is no longer on the war, but on him, and was taking away from the war effort. In reality, bush will have told him to go.
04-19-06, 10:30 AM juanruiz Well, yesterday he got the kiss of death. Bush said he supported him 100%. I remember when George McGovern said that about Thomas Eagleton.

Giving Bush a lot of credit for political wisdom, aren't you?
Yes, I'd say that Rumsfeld's days are numbered. I give it until this coming Friday...Just long enough to for the new Press Secretary to get "her" feet wet in the job.
By the way, I don't know who the new Press Secretary will be, but I'm guessing a female so we press conference viewer get a completely new look.

04-19-06, 07:07 PM coldfuse Hey, let Karrow become the Secretary of Defense's private chef and - boom - out in a week, tops.
He has offered to resign before, and the President has not accepted his resignation. So, who knows?

As his jealousy of my superior ways of cooking gruel is obvious, I'm ignoring his little attempt at humour Honi.

As you can see, I'm not any good at predicting this administration.
And Karrow I hope you won't spoil the shine on your Jackboots while fixing your gruel. Dwight

I think this administration is unpredictable.
