Absolutely not ! Sounds ghastly

No British woman would think to accept advice or copy like that. When she was on trial we did get shown clips from her programmes, just to give us a clue. That's why I couldn't understand why she was rich. It would
neverwork here. It must be something peculiarly American that she has.The only people making things on our TV are doing so in children's programmes

.What she was doing reminded me of the programmes we had in the 1950s when we still had rationing and had to use our imagination to do decorating etc with limited materials

What we do have is fashion and cosmetics advisers on TV, giving make-over advice to volunteers. And we have celebrity cooks, like Jamie Oliver. These people are specialist professionals with flair. Make-over shows for homes were a fad for a while but not as successful as those for gardens. Now our morning TV is all about home
buying. The most popular show is 'Homes under the Hammer' on buying property at auction: we see the properties, the auction itself, all with informed commentary, and what the buyers make of renovation. Some buyers make elementary beginners' mistakes, some turn out to be hardened developers, some are average, all are instructive in one way or another and the show has human interest too.Programmes on valuing, buying and selling antiques and collectables, like 'Antiques Roadshow' (which has been running for thirty years), have long proved popular too.
