Let's try this again, only this time, we'll have running nominations rather than a recap. You can use any definition of "worst" that you chose: dumbest, most self-serving, most obviously wrong, most unnecessary, etc. We don't even need your definition, just the statement, the speaker, and, if necessary, the context. Off-topic content will be edited or deleted. All that is necessary is the quote, the speaker, and possibly a brief context.

"Rush Limbaugh,is the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world today. Everyday he gives voice to the values of democratic governance, individual opportunity, and the just, equal application of the rule of law - and it is fitting that the Nobel Committee recognize the power of these ideals to build a truly peaceful world for future generations."
Mark Levin, Contributing Editor The National Review, nominating Rush for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Most unnecessary: "I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States." ....."You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known,"
Tim Hardaway

GOP Rep. Don Young of Alaska on the House floor Feb 15, 2007, coming out against the anti-escalation resolution. To make his case, Young attributed the following quote to Abraham Lincoln: "Congressmen who willfully take action during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs, and should be arrested, exiled or hanged."
Of course we all know that Lincoln did not say this; hear it here.

STEWART: This weekend, the president of the United States went on NPR to explain that he knows Cheney and Cheney is NOT delusional -- just optimistic. (tape) BUSH: I think that the Vice President is a person reflecting a "half-glass-full" mentality. STEWART: How twisted is your administration when [Cheney] is your Pollyanna? He's your optimist! He's your little ray of sunshine!
