So far my personal tally is Republicans 5, Minor party candidate 2. And, like Lighteningrodd, voting for another minor party candidate in 2008 may very well be in the cards.

Unfortunately, the one moment you get a government that can do what it was elected to do you get a President who seems, by some accounts, to be abusing the system. How any country can be governed by an endless series of uncertain compromises and deals remains a mystery to Britons Still if it works for you...
I have never voted with my party simply because they were my party - except of course in the primaries where you have. When the time comes to vote, my vote goes to the person I think will do the better job. (or unfortunately in some cases, who will do the least damage)
I don't think the two party (or more) system will ever change, I just wish that we were allowed to vote outside of our party in a primary.
